Most operators do it for hours. An improperly adjusted vest will not only fatigue the operator but will affect the performance. The operator should adjust the shoulder and chest pads first. After adjustment, to ensure a snug not overly tight he should adjust the hip pads.
Secondly, about the skills to hold the sled. Where your hands are positioned on the sled can make a big difference. A green hand should hold the sled with two hands. When he does so, it is important not to use a death grip.
At last, shot planning cannot be stressed enough. The operator must do several rehearsals to get the desired result because almost every Steadicam shot is different. Make sure that where you need to put your feet will be free of obstacles that could cause a fall. So, I've been having this creative block for a while now...and it's rather important that I get out of this. I only have a little over a month left of school, and I'm trying to get my senior thesis project done, but can't seem to come up with the last 3 pieces I have to do. HELP! How do you guys get out of these creative/inspirational slumps? Any tips, tricks, advice?
